maharajas & moody blues

I have to be sure to get out of the house every Sunday, or else I mope, so today I went to the Indian costumes exhibition at the Fondation Pierre Bergé Yves Saint Laurent, an art space in which Saint Laurent showed his art collection in the later years of his life. They were all beautiful silk, velvet and that perfect Indian cotton with embroidery and brocade, and in amongst them was one Yves Saint Laurent costume in black and gold silk, clearly inspired by Indian dress, with a flowing head cover and supple folds that draped to the floor. After this I went and had some coffee, listened to a fiction podcast, and then went for a walk in the cold along the Seine to Pont d’Alma, which has an impressive view of the Eiffel Tower. The sky today was all greys and blues and roses, and sounded a little like these songs to me.

  1. Small Black’s sound would be excellent road-trip backup. Sort of hypnotic, though, so maybe dangerous. I really like it.

  2. It’s great to have you back blogging. I have especially enjoyed this and the last one; Venice must have been very splendid indeed.
